One night, in a Chicago suburb, at a trivia night not unlike many other trivia nights, a boy wearing a light blue rain jacket sat down next to me.
Almost exactly a year later, in that same suburb, he was on his knee in a thunderstorm asking me to spend the rest of our lives together. I said yes. We got married in July of 2016 and since then have moved to Alaska and begun our life together. (My husband is in the Army and that’s why we moved up here).
I’m an English teacher by trade, and one of my favorite lines of poetry comes from the poem “A Valentine for Earnest Mann” by Naomi Shihab Nye. “Maybe if we reinvent what our lives give us, we find poems”. This space is where I am looking for poems and reinventing them. Thank you for joining me.
